Day 6, Day of History!

Hi Everyone!

So today was one of the more interesting days! I finally got about 6 straights hours of sleep, so that was great! An improvement from every other night, so hopefully tonight will be even better!

We started the day off pretty early, I got up around 7:30 and went to the hostel kitchen for breakfast, but they ended up having a lot of meet and cheese so I just went for some whole grain toast and an apple, I ate breakfast with one of my room mates named Virginia, and engineer from Portugal. That is one thing I am loving about this trip, all the interesting people I’m meeting.

From there we made our way to Parliament Hill and of course had to get a photo of Big Ben and the London Eye.

One thing I didn’t realize was the whole church is practically a giant mausoleum, there are so many royals buried there, it was amazing to walk through and hear the history and the life stories of all the people, and considering I am a Reign fan, it was very cool to see Mary Queen Of Scotts memorial and casket.

From here we trugged through the rain to the Churchill war rooms, Winston Churchill’s underground bunker used as a command center during the London bombings. It was so interesting because they have kept everything original, just like it was in his time. It really felt like stepping trough a time machine.

After the war rooms we made our way to the docs and caught a Thames river tour to Tower Hill. It was awesome to see a different perspective of the city. We got off at Tower Hill because we visited the Tower of London, which I was really surprised to find out, used to be an old roman settlement before becoming the Tower. This was such a historical and interesting place to visit, I saw the Crown Jewels, including the biggest diamond ever! Climbed the White tower and saw the armory of the guards, my favorite defiantly was the little boys armor. It was fashioned so the eye opening looked lie the face of a lizard. We also saw the Ravens and Walked the tower wall. It was one of the most interesting things I’ve done so far.

From here we hoped back to the hostel for a few minutes and got ready for what was probably the most fun I’ve had in a very long time. We went to a Medieval Banquet! It was in the beautiful area of St Kathrines Docs, in a converted underground cellar and was like dinner theater on acid. While sitting down you were sung to by the actors, who were all in medieval clothing and character and served a 4 course meal from your wench. Unlike a normal civilized restaurant where you would politely raise your hand if you needed something, here you had to bang your fists on the table and shout “WENCH!!” In between courses there were performances and musical numbers, and opportunities to get up and dance with the actors, which of course I did. And at then end there was a jousting match and dance party, it was an amazing night. Actually,,, it was the first nights in a long time that I was able to fully let go of my self, of what others would think, or even the criticism I give my self, and just have pure fun. And ya, I looked pretty ridiculous, but all that matters was that I had fun. I’m starting to learn to let go more and just have fun, and not care what others might think of me, its really opening my mind to a whole different side of me that I haven’t seen in a long time.

Thanks for reading! See you tomorrow!

xx ❤
