So today we got up pretty early, ok not that early, about 7:30 am and checked out of castle rock hostel in Edinburgh. We cancelled going to Inverness because of time and gas, and we didn’t really feel it would be worth it for one night, so instead we decided to go to Loch Leven castle, where Mary Queen of Scotts was imprisoned. It was one of the coolest things we’ve done, because we got the island to our self! We took a small little boat out and then the boat guide left us on the island for about 45 minutes to explore on our own! It was such a cool experience to have the whole island to our self, I really felt like I could relate more to Mary. The cellars were defiantly the creepiest/ coolest experience and I would not be surprised if they were haunted!
Before heading to the Loch we had to stop in the town and try a recommended breakfast. Recommended by the same friend who told me to try a deep fried mars bar, and we know how that went. The recommendation was a mac and cheese pie and at least a sip of an orange fizzy drink called Irn-Bru. The pie was great! like the best binge food ever, but I wasn’t to keen towards the drink, but I tried it!
From here we started our journey to London, we knew we weren’t going to make it the whole way, but we wanted to get as far as we could. And we made it to Lancaster! With a name like Lancaster you would expect it to be a slow moving small town, but quite the opposite. It is a very busy, decently sized city with a ton of traffic! And we started our search for a hostel, but quickly found a travel lodge and I am current in bed right now excited for a good nights sleep! Tomorrow we get to London mid afternoon and I am meeting up with the friend I ave mentioned a few times, then back to the US on Saturday!
Hope you all are well!
