So this past week feels like a bit of a whirlwind. I went back to Utah to see my grandma this weekend, surprisingly enough, that wasn’t the most overwhelming part. We went out to eat twice, and when I say “we” I mean I sat and had a plate of steamed veg while everyone else ate.
First we went to Cafe Rio for lunch. And if any of you have been there, you would know that it has the best food and their salads are to die for. Cafe Rio used to be my binge restaurant, I would go and eat as much as I could, enough for 2 or 3 people, then usually end up purging it all. Not the healthiest cycle.I made it through though! I just had water and did ok, I also took any opportunity to get up from table, just a chance to distract myself and keep busy. That night we also went to a Chinese food restaurant I went to all the time as kid. The smells alone we so overwhelming! I got a plate of steamed veggies and despite the temptation and emotional distress that being in these situations caused, I was ok! I didn’t break and I didn’t go off my food plan!
It was a hard trip, but worth it because I proved to my self I can go out to “eat” and be ok, and be exposed to food that I used to hurt my self with and be addicted to. And not fall back in to the same trap! So overall, I’m doing great! I hope all of you are too, and I will see you on Wednesday!
